CITY TOURS
Unexpected Siena
Narrow alleys, hidden fountains, green valleys and gardens in the middle of the city, fossilized shells in the stones of the Cathedral floor, all of them have something to tell a curious visitor. Natural history, legends and secrets that can be revealed little by little and step by step, getting lost around Siena (well, not literally!)
Do you know that?
In the Middle Ages, owing to the lack of water, underground aqueducts were built to intercept and collect dripping water along the way and feed the fountains in the city centre. They are still in good conditions and some of the water is used for watering private gardens.
